TOP SEEDS LOCK IN WOMEN’S SINGLES SEMIFINALS

The men’s draw has been shedding seeds all week, but the women leading the pack have not budged. All four top seeds in the Women’s Singles came through their quarterfinals unscathed at the Capital Securities Beijing Open 2026, setting up semifinal drama.
It was mostly one-way traffic. Chao Yi Wang shut down Seina Shima 11-2, 11-4 on Championship Court, the qualifier who had upset the #7 seed unable to conjure another surprise win. In the same half, Yufei Long held off Pei-Chuan Kao 11-7, 12-10. At the bottom of the draw, Sahra Dennehy was just as ruthless against the #6 seed Aiko Yoshitomi, winning 11-6, 11-4, and Lingwei Kong survived an early scare, saving the opening game 15-13 against the #8 seed Mihae Kwon before easing clear 11-4.
The semifinals are set and some history is on the menu.
FOLLOW TOURNAMENT ACTION
Chao Yi Wang and Yufei Long meet for the second time in Asia, a replay of last December’s Hangzhou semifinal, which Wang took 11-8, 11-7. Long was the home favorite then, and she is the home favorite now. Beijing hands her the chance to turn the result around with the help of the local fans. The other semifinal has no past to lean on, the Australian #2 seed Sahra Dennehy and China’s #4 seed Lingwei Kong meeting for the first time.
Beyond the final four, the pundits will be eagerly eyeing the complete Beijing brackets. Wang and Dennehy stand on opposite sides of the draw of each event and both are on Triple Crown watch having also survived their doubles encounters. A final between them would put a clean sweep on the line for both. It would also be a replay of the Hangzhou singles final, where Dennehy won 11-7, 11-2 to take the title.

Over in the men’s draw, things were not quite so orderly. Harrison Brown was the breakout star, as he kept flipping the script and carried his run into the final four. The Aussie followed up his upset of #4 seed Luc Pham by taking out #7 seed Nasa Hatakeyama 11-5, 13-11 in the quarterfinals. He now faces top seed Zane Ford in the penultimate round, while Hong Kit Wong and Hien Truong, the #3 and #2 seeds respectively, meet on the other side.
