Field is Set: Seeds Revealed For MB Hanoi Cup
| March 18, 2026
MB Hanoi Cup 2026 is just two weeks away and the reveal of the official seeds has turned up the heat on PPA Tour Asia’s first stop of the year.
All eyes will be on Anna Leigh Waters who comes in as top seed in both the Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles events. The pressure will be on the American star as she makes her international debut when she steps out on court next month. Sharing the arena with her will be World No.2 Anna Bright in the Women’s Doubles and World No.1 Ben Johns in the Mixed. With over 190 gold medals to her name, no doubt Waters will be looking to push her tally closer to a double century in Vietnam.
Top seed in the Mixed, Ben Johns is also leading the pack in Men’s Doubles, partnering up with Gabriel Tardio to take the top seed. Johns will be keen to collect his first gold in the event in Asia, having bagged silver and bronze in his 2025 showings on the tour.

The Men’s Singles is set to bring plenty of heat with Federico Staksrud topping the field. Last December Staksrud took bronze at the Vibrant Linping Hangzhou Open, so will be fully aware of the depth the event can bring. Currently sitting at World No.2, the Argentinian will also be eyeing the 1000pts up top as he tries to recapture the throne.
Sitting behind Staksrud at #2 is Christian Alshon who will be aiming to replicate is Kuala Lumpur form, where he topped the podium during the Panas Malaysia Cup last year. Meanwhile, Connor Garnett in the #3 seed will set sights on dishing out a second serving of magic in Asia, having taken out the Men’s Singles title on his way to a Triple Crown at the Sansan Fukuoka Open 2025.
The Women’s Singles brings out both fresh and familiar faces.
Kate Fahey takes top billing on her Asia debut. The World No.2 has five singles gold among her 20 PPA singles medals, and is out to grow that collection in Vietnam.
World No.3 and Panas Malaysia Cup 2025 champion Kaitlyn Christian will be the biggest threat to Fahey’s hopes of a dream Asia debut. But eyes also will be on Sahra Dennehy at #6 who is on a hotstreak in Asia. The World No.13 closed out 2025 with back-to-back PPA Asia gold medals, going undefeated at both the MB Vietnam Cup and Vibrant Linping Hangzhou Open.
Action is set to go down at the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Arena in Hanoi, Vietnam from April 1-5. With 1000 PPA Ranking points on the line and up to US$300,000 in prize money to be won, the stakes are set for a big week of pickleball.
