HARVEY STUNS TRUONG WITH GREAT ESCAPE TO REACH SINGAPORE FINAL

Adam Harvey looked like he was done. Down 9-1 in the deciding game of his Men’s Singles semifinal against top seed Hien Truong, the American was one bad rally from the exit on his PPA Tour Asia debut. Then he reeled off ten straight points.
Harvey’s 6-11, 11-2, 11-9 comeback booked his place in the final at the Leapmotor Singapore Open 2026 and ended the gold medal hopes of the #1 seed in the most dramatic fashion of the week. From 9-1 down he did not lose another point, closing out one of the great escapes the tour has seen.
He now faces Hong Kit Wong in a first-time meeting with plenty on the line. Wong, the World No.14, reached the final by dismantling Marco Leung 11-1, 11-2 and stands one win away from history. Victory on Championship Sunday would make him the first player to win three straight Men’s Singles golds on the PPA Tour Asia, having already claimed the Capital Securities Beijing Open and Sansan Tokyo Open titles. Harvey, the World No.19, was the story of the day, but Wong is chasing perhaps the story of the year tomorrow.

Meanwhile Yufei Long just fell short of a triple crown hunt on Championship Sunday. The Women’s Singles top seed had booked her spots in the Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles finals, but her bid to become the first woman to complete the sweep on the PPA Tour Asia ended in the Mixed Doubles semifinal, where she and Lucas Pascoe were beaten by Jaeda Minniefield and Luc Pham in a seesaw battle 11-9, 0-11, 8-11. Only Connor Garnett has completed an Asia triple crown, at the Sansan Fukuoka Open 2025.
The pair that ended Long’s bid told the bigger story of the day. Minniefield and Pham are a first-time partnership, and they were not the only new combination to thrive. Hien Truong and Kenta Miyoshi, another pairing throwing down together for the first time this week, came through to reach the Men’s Doubles final. Fresh partnerships are booking their place on Championship Sunday.
Truong and Miyoshi defeated top seeds Eunggwon Kim and Hong Kit Wong 11-9, 11-8 to reach that final, Truong getting one back on Wong after their singles rivalry went the other way. They will face Len Yang and Collin Johns, who advanced past Robert Stirling and Lucas Pascoe 12-10, 9-11, 11-1 to reach a third straight final together.
In the Mixed Doubles final, Minniefield and Pham will face Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall and Robert Stirling, who came from a game down to beat Kara Wheatley and Hong Kit Wong 3-11, 11-5, 11-6.
Long still has two shots at gold on Championship Sunday. She meets Anni Xie in the Women’s Singles final and partners Kara Wheatley against first-time top seeds Jamie Haas and Lingwei Kong in the Women’s Doubles final.
Championship Sunday action kicks off Sunday, July 26 with the bronze medal playoffs at 9:00 AM (GMT+8). The gold medal finals will begin not before 2:00 PM (GMT+8). While tickets for Championship Court are sold out, entry to watch all other courts is free, including access to Pickletown.
