HIEN TRUONG CHASES ELUSIVE HOME GOLD IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Hien Truong keeps coming close on home soil. Now he’s back for a fourth shot at the top of the podium.
The Vietnamese star is the #2 seed in Men’s Singles at the MB Ho Chi Minh City Open 2026, and will have home crowd cheering him toward a homemade Men’s Singles gold that has eluded him so far. He took silver at the MB Vietnam Cup 2025, silver again at the MB Hanoi Cup 2026, as well as bronze at the MB Vietnam Open 2025. Three home medals, none of them the color he wants.
Standing in the way is the man on the hottest streak on Tour. Hong Kit Wong arrives in Vietnam fresh off a historic third straight Men’s Singles gold in Singapore and lines up as the top seed once more. A fourth consecutive title would push his own record even further into uncharted territory. Adam Harvey, who reached the Singapore final on his Asia debut, stays in the region as the #3 seed and is no longer a stranger to anyone.
FOLLOW TOURNAMENT ACTION
The Men’s Doubles draw sees a familiar pairing reunited. Hien Truong lines up again with Quan Do at #3, the combo that has won two golds together, the most recent at the Capital Securities Beijing Open 2026. At the top, Eunggwon Kim and Hong Kit Wong return as the #1 seeds, still chasing that elusive first Men’s Doubles gold together after a run of near misses. And there is a fresh look at #4, where Hoang Nam Ly links up with Collin Johns to form a brand new duo. Between Truong and Nam Ly, Vietnam’s fans have plenty to cheer for across the draw.

In Women’s Singles, Yufei Long carries her Singapore form into Vietnam as the top seed. The Chinese star completed a double crown in Singapore with gold in Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles, though a triple is off the table this week with Long sitting out the Mixed Doubles. Also in the draw at #3 is Rika Fujiwara, making her first appearance since winning Women’s Singles gold in Tokyo.
The surprise Mixed Doubles champions from Singapore are back for more. Jaeda Minniefield and Luc Pham, whose first tournament together ended in gold, stay paired at #6 as they look to prove the breakthrough was no accident.
