PPA TOUR ASIA TOURNAMENT PRO EVENT ENTRY & SEEDING REGULATIONS
TOURNAMENT FORMATS
Open Format: 16 slot Main Draw with standard elite player entry restrictions.
Cup Format: 32 slot Main Draw with no elite player restrictions.
1. ENTRY SYSTEM
All players who enter a PPA Tour Asia Pro event are initially placed on a Waitlist. Entry to an event does not guarantee a position in either the Main Draw or Qualifying Draw. Entries may be excluded at the sole discretion of PPA Tour Asia.
1.1 Waitlist Processing
Following registration closing, players on the Waitlist shall be processed according to the entry priority system and allocated to:
- Main Draw (based on available positions)
- Qualifying Draw (based on available positions)
- No position (insufficent availability)
PPA Tour Asia will endeavor to notify players of their status two weeks prior to the start of the tournament. Players requiring a letter of support from PPA Tour Asia for visa applications may request this prior to this date.
1.2 Draw Size
Open Format:
- Main Draw: 16 players/pairs
- Up to four (4) places to be determined from Qualifying
- Qualifying: Based on available positions
Cup Format:
- Main Draw: 24 players/pairs
- Top 8 seeds receive first-round byes to Round of 16
- Up to eight (8) places to be determined from Qualifying
Qualifying: Based on available positions
1.3.1 Open Format Entry Priority
Entries for Open Format tournaments shall be processed as follows, based on rankings captured at registration closing:
- Players positioned in the Top 21-50 of the PPA Tour Rankings (inclusive of their partners in doubles events). Note: Players Top 1-20 are restricted – see Section 1.6
- Sum of player/pair’s published points:
- PPA Tour Asia points multiplied by two (2), until such time that PPA Tour Asia announce an update
- PPA Tour points (actual value)
- PPA Tour Australia points (actual value)
- Up to six (6) Main Draw Wildcards
- Up to four (4) Qualifying Wildcards
1.3.2 Cup Format Entry Priority
Entries for Cup Format tournaments shall be processed as follows, based on PPA Rankings captured at registration closing:
- Main Draw and Qualifying Eligibility in Order of Priority
- Players/teams with “Touring Pros” Status
- If spots remain in doubles events, teams with only one contracted player with “Touring Pros” Status
- If spots remain, players/team who are Contracted Players
- If spots remain in doubles events, teams with only one Contracted Players
- If spots remain, non-contracted players/teams will be ranked and placed in the main draw according to their PPA Tour Rankings in that specific event
- Once the Main Draw is full, remaining teams fill Qualifying in the same priority order. Any signed player who does not make the Main Draw is guaranteed a place in Qualifying

1.4 Tie-Breaking Procedures
When PPA Ranking points are equal, player/pair order will be determined in the following priority:
- Individual players ranked higher in teams will be given priority should there be ties in PPA Ranking points
- Players without points will be placed in draws based on their registered DUPRs
1.5 Wildcard Allocation
1.5.1 Main Draw Wildcards
Up to six (6) wildcards may be allocated for the Main Draw as follows:
- Two (2) Local Wildcards
- Two (2) Host Wildcards
- Two (2) PPA Wildcards
1.5.2 Qualifying Wildcards
Up to four (4) wildcards may be allocated for the Qualifying Draw at the discretion of PPA Tour Asia.
1.6 Elite Player Participation Limit (EPPL) – Open Format Only
This restriction applies to Open Format tournaments only. Players positioned 1-20 in the PPA Tour Rankings at Registration Closing are not permitted to enter through standard entry procedures in an Open Format event. Such players may only participate if awarded a wildcard.
Cup Format tournaments have no elite player restrictions – all Top 50 PPA Tour ranked players may enter through standard entry procedures.
2. SEEDING SYSTEM
2.1 Seeding Determination
All seeding shall be determined using PPA Rankings captured at time of registration closing. In doubles, a team’s cumulative points will determine its seed.
2.2 Tie-Breaking Procedures
- Individual players ranked higher will be given the higher seed should there be ties in PPA Ranking points
2.2 Seed Placement in Draw
2.2.1 Main Draw Placement – Open Format (16 Draw)
Seeds shall be placed in the draw according to the following procedures:
- Seed 1: Placed in slot 1
- Seed 2: Placed in slot 16
- Seeds 3-4: Drawn randomly with first drawn placed in slot 8, second drawn placed in slot 9
- Remaining players: Players/pairs drawn and placed in vacant slots starting from the top of the draw (excluding slots reserved for qualifying winners)
2.2.2 Main Draw Placement – Cup Format (32 Draw)
For Cup format events with 32-player main draw:
Seed Placement:
Top 8 seeds will be drawn into the below positions:
- Seed 1: Position 1
- Seed 2: Position 32
- Seeds 3-4: Drawn randomly with first drawn placed in position 16, second drawn placed in position 17
- Seeds 5-8: Drawn randomly and placed in positions 8,9,24,25
- All 8 seeds will be given a bye to the round of 16.
- Main Draw first round: 8 players will be randomly drawn to meet 8 qualifying winners, starting from the top of the draw
- Qualifying Round: 8 players will proceed to Main Draw round of 32.
2.2.3 Qualifying Winners Placement
Qualifying winners shall be randomly drawn and placed to fill the TBD slots in sequential order of main draw seeds (Open Format) or distributed evenly across the round of 32 (Cup Format).
2.2.4 Qualifying Draw Placement
Seeds shall be placed in the qualifying draw according to the following procedures in a 16-player draw:
- Seed 1: Placed in slot 1
- Seed 2: Placed in slot 16
- Seeds 3-4: Drawn randomly with first drawn placed in slot 8, second drawn placed in slot 9
- Remaining players: Players/pairs drawn and placed in vacant slots starting from the top of the draw
2.2.4 Draw Procedure
The placement of seeds shall not be official until the final draw is completed and published.
3. INELIGIBLE TOURING PLAYERS
Players who achieve or currently have a top 50 PPA Ranking and choose not to sign a PPA contract will be ineligible for Cup and Slam tournaments.
4. IMPLEMENTATION
These regulations shall apply to all Pro events at Open level PPA Tour Asia tournaments unless otherwise specified. All decisions regarding entry and seeding determinations shall be final and binding.
